Gathering data
The children gathered data based on the traffic passing on the road outside the school.

Maths Trails
The children took part in a Math's trail on the school grounds based on searching for 2D and 3d shapes.

Maths Fun in the Classroom
The Infants & 1st Class use their Maths skills every day during Aistear time. They use the blocks and ploydrons to construct 3-D Shapes and they used their learning of time and money while working in the Vets.
3rd Class applied their learning of 3-D shapes by constructing different shapes using matchsticks and bluetack.Â
5th & 6th Class use their Maths Skills to solve real-life problems. They use supermarket catalogues to calculate prices of a shopping list or ingredients of a meal.
On Sports Day, lots of the activities involved counting, measuring, timing and identifying shapes and colours. The Water relay encouraged the children to apply their knowledge of capacity to help them to fill the bottles in the fastest time!

Using Technology in Maths
This year, pupils used more technology to help with their Maths learning than ever before. On our iPads, pupils used websites and apps such as IXL, Toy Theatre, Hit the Button and Studyladder.
During remote learning, each class used Seesaw to access Maths activities and videos from their teachers and responded to tasks.
Maths Week 2020
Maths Week Ireland was held from the 10th - 18th October. We made great use of the brilliant resources on the Maths Week Ireland website with children taking part in activities such as 'Emoji Problem Solving' throughout the week. Each classroom had a chance to use their Maths Eyes around the school grounds. Infants and 1st Class engaged in a Maths Scavenger Hunt and played lots of Maths games in the classroom. 2nd-6th Class took part in a Maths Trail in their own classroom bubbles.
