Pushkin Project

We have taken part in the Pushkin School's Programme for the last two years.  It is a cross-curricular, cross-community and cross-border project involving primary, secondary, Irish medium and special needs schools, run by Pushkin Trust’s. The initiative retains creative writing as the central core of activity and is supplemented by other creative art forms, using the environment as an important source of inspiration. The theme for 2017-2018 was 'Opening Ground and the theme for 2018-2019 was 'On the Air'. We were visited by a number of artists, environmentalists and writers who facilitated workshops to develop each theme. In both years we joined with other schools involved in the project to take part in the Pushkin Day, where we worked in mixed groups alongside teachers, taking part in activities facilitated by artists, dancers, writers, actors, musicians and environmentalists. At the end of each year we compiled a scrapbook of our work and we received a Pushkin Plaque and award certificates. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with the Pushkin Programme and we hope to return to it in the years ahead.
